About this course

The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) is a regulated, one-day qualification designed for employees who may be appointed as emergency first aiders within the workplace.

The course provides candidates with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to assess an incident, manage an emergency and provide immediate first aid until professional medical assistance arrives.

What You Will Learn

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of an emergency first aider
  • Assess an incident safely
  • Protect themselves, the casualty and bystanders
  • Check a casualty’s level of response
  • Open and maintain the airway
  • Check for normal breathing
  • Manage an unresponsive breathing casualty
  • Place a casualty in the recovery position
  • Perform effective adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Use an automated external defibrillator safely
  • Manage choking in an adult casualty
  • Control external bleeding
  • Recognise and manage shock
  • Manage minor injuries
  • Respond appropriately to seizures
  • Call the emergency services and provide a clear handover
  • Monitor a casualty until further help arrives
